All in all, the prophets believe that activating the Halo rings will create a portal or something, and that it will make them gods.
And because of that belief, they are willing to "sacrifice" almost everyone and anything to achieve that goal.
The reason they hate humans so much is because a series of ancient tablets lead them to the planet Reach, and when they discover humans, naturally, they want to eliminate them before they discover the secret of the rings. Ironically, the tablets lead them to Earth as well.
The reason I have great respect for the Arbiter is because he killed the last one, the Prophet of Truth (Not me!)
Mind you, Truth, Mercy and Regret here are not the evil ones, the in-game characters in the Halo series are.

I like the prophets. Naturally, i'm not going to look at personalities or anything, but the artistic side of it. I found the designs for their floatey chairey thingies pretty cool, as did i find the crown things they wear.
Don't tell me how incompetent i am, i already know that i know virtually nothing else about them
