This is a bit late for me to post this, but the original Final Fantasy 1 and 2 have been remade for PSP! Both of them are remade to celebrate Final Fantasy's 20th anniversary, and are better than ever. (EDIT: obviously)
Features are (as you would expect) better sprites, textures, sounds and animations. The games are still 2D aside from the pseudo-3D world map (basically it's at a 45 degree angle) but the battles (my favorite part) are even better, even though they use the old turn-based system.
Below are box shots and some screens from the games:
 
NOTE: I bet you did not know this: Final Fantasy was Squaresoft's last stand (they were about to go bankrupt) and they just threw random ideas together. They were surprised with it's enormous success and were not expecting a sequel, or the 24 games and 2 movies that followed!
NOTE 2: The 24 games are all of the games Square created with Final fantasy in their name, including FF Tactics etc.

EDIT: As of today (today being 9th August 2008) I officially have the first Final Fantasy on PSP.
It starts off really weird (your straight on the world map), but if you head up toward the castle, keep going up toward the king, talk to him, then the game gets good. Just confuses people at the start.
